Following several weeks of speculation, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith shuffled her Cabinet on May 16, adjusting the roles and responsibilities of several existing Ministers, introducing three new faces, and subdividing the health portfolio. The changes follow a recent shuffle of Deputy Minister roles.
This is the first significant change to the Cabinet makeup since the UCP was elected to form government in May 2023. It comes at the halfway point of Premier Smith’s mandate.
The next provincial election is October 18, 2027.
New Cabinet Roles and Titles are:

• Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services, Matt Jones
• Minister of Indigenous Relations, Rajan Sawhney
• Minister of Education and Childcare, Demetrios Nicolaides
• Minister of Jobs, Economy, Trade, and Immigration, Joseph Schow
• Minister of Mental Health and Addiction, Rick Wilson
• Minister of Municipal Affairs, Dan Williams
• Minister of Primary and Preventative Health Services, Adriana LaGrange
• Minister of Tourism and Sport, Andrew Boitchenko*
• Associate Minister of Multiculturalism, Mohammed Yaseen
